FOOD-kuoka! Highlighting Fukuoka’s Best Eats
A few months ago, I wrote about my experience eating at Yatai Chez Remy for the first time. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of eating at some of Fukuoka’s finest restaurants. Upon reflecting about my many visits to US Burger in Daimyo, I decided to organize my posts and launch a new blog series: FOOD-kuoka!
I like food, Fukuoka, and puns, so this series will combine at least two of those three likes. I also enjoy sharing my finds with others, and have introduced my friends to a few of these restaurants. My friends also share their finds with me, too.
Sometimes, the best way to explore a new city and culture is through the stomach. Fukuoka, along with Sapporo and Nagoya, is considered one of Japan’s underrated food capitals. The city is known for its low cost of living compared to other comparable cities, but it doesn’t compromise food quality. In fact, Fukuoka may be home to some of Japan’s best eats! Whether it’s Tonkotsu Ramen, bite-size Gyoza, or expatriate food, Fukuoka has you covered.
Since Fukuoka is the “Gateway to Asia,” the city is home to many Chinese, Korean, and Southeast Asian restaurants. You can also find Latin-American eats, and even some African eats! Looking for vegetarian or vegan? Fukuoka has you covered! Looking for Gluten-free? Fukuoka has that too! Halal? You can find it here! Kosher? I haven’t found anything yet, but I’ll get back to you if and when I do.
To be clear, I’m not a food reviewer, nor am I qualified to write about food in a pretentious manner. I’m just a young guy trying to make the most of his time in Fukuoka.
So enjoy me on this side quest as I find and explore FOOD-kuoka and highlight the city’s best eats.
